This summer, I embarked on a journey to Italy and Malta with two of my besties, whom I’ve had the pleasure of studying with at university and living with.
Of course, no holiday is complete without a few moments of comic relief to make it all, as the cool kids say, part of “the plot.”
So here’s a list of some of the mishaps, near misses and blunders we experienced during our month-long adventure abroad:
1. Almost had my phone stolen in Milan
Almost had my phone stolen out of my hands in Milan. The old man who attempted this looked at me as if I had done something wrong?!
2. Stuck in an elevator during a heatwave
Stuck in an elevator for an hour during the summer heatwave. It was the first in the building’s history that the elevator had ever failed. Luckily I had my yoghurt, Cara’s Birkenstocks that are three to four sizes bigger than my feet, and some banana yoghurt from the grocery shop down the road.
3. Fell down the stairs in Parma
Fell down the stairs of our Airbnb in Parma. A bruised butt was not the accessory of summer I planned to have.
4. Jumped off a ship into the Blue Lagoon
I jumped off a two-storey ship into the Blue Lagoon. The adrenaline rush was insane, but I’m not a diver nor am I a good swimmer. Would 10/10 get winded again.
5. A bus ride at party time in St Julian’s
Hopped onto a bus during prime party time at St Julian’s. Never again.
What blunders have you experienced while on holidays?
